The bridge of Gundián, which crosses the Ulla river in the municipality of Vedra, is an icon not only for the inhabitants of the municipality, but also for the many hikers who walk around the area and stop to photograph it.
With the construction of the replica of this viaduct using Timber Lupo’s and Superlupo’s pieces, the students of the Colegio Ortigueira in Santa Cruz de Ribadulla got to know a little more about a nearby symbol while playing and learning about mathematics, drawing, physics, art or history.
This activity took place in another important building, the old Santa Cruz de Ribadulla train station, now transformed into a municipal cultural space.
After a first part in which windows and arches were built to deepen the structural notions that allow man to save spaces without support, the participants began to build the replica of the bridge with the help of a scaffolding and a lot of fun.
As this is an ephemeral construction, the pieces will continue to be used for new educational projects and constructions. In fact, soon after, another bridge was built in one of the school’s classrooms. What a creativity to create the slopes of support with the furniture!
